Yesterday, I was in Monterey and saw a number of chestnut-backed chickadees. My first thought was, "I haven't seen them in the neighborhood". Today changed that. This morning, I had a chickadee in the willow tree. These birds are more common in the forest. I am guessing that they were migrating through and saw our neighbors redwood trees as a haven.
