I was not expecting to see a Brown Creeper when I went to William St Park today. Creepers are small birds that climb up trees looking for bugs. They fly to the base of a tree and then work up the trunk. This contrast with nuthatches that start at the top of a tree and work their way down.
Creepers brown and white coloring on their back blend in extremely well with their surroundings. I was lucky to spot this one. They may well be reasonably common along Coyote Creek, but are probably missed as just another small brown bird.
