We have several resident Cooper's Hawks in the neighborhood. Once
while walking on 16th Street, I saw a Cooper's Hawk going after a sparrow.
The sparrow was rolling, tumbling, and weaving to avoid the hawk. The pursuit
went behind a house, so I didn't see the outcome, but it didn't look good for
the sparrow.

While they aren't feasting on small birds, our Cooper's Hawks are chasing
bigger birds away. This morning I saw one drive a red-tailed hawk out of the
neighborhood.
